Daley Blind about ‘painful situation’: ‘Enough has been said about Ajax and me, that is not always easy’ | Dutch football

Where Daley Blind is the undisputed wingback at the Orange under Louis van Gaal on the left, his situation at Ajax has been completely reversed in the past month. The left leg has ended up on a side track in Amsterdam under Alfred Schreuder. In an interview with this site for the World Cup supplement, Blind also speaks out about the ‘painful situation’ at Ajax.

Since he was taken off in the 58th minute in the Champions League match against Liverpool in the Johan Cruijff Arena on October 26, Blind has hardly been included in Schreuder’s plans. He watched the full ninety minutes from the bench in the top match against PSV and in the Champions League match in Glasgow with Rangers FC. In the next two matches (at home against Vitesse and away at FC Emmen), Blind came on in the second half. Last Sunday in Emmen, Ajax lost a 3-1 lead, so that the game ended in a disappointing draw.

Blind is fed up with the situation at Ajax

From years of permanent strength on the left side of Ajax, Blind was suddenly the bitten dog in Amsterdam, with fans and trainer Alfred Schreuder. The situation hurts him, he says a great interview on this site. “Enough has been said and written about Ajax and me lately, that is not always easy. I know – and we all know at Ajax – that things have to be better. I love the club, always give everything, I am a great Ajax player, so it hurts me.”

Blind continues: ,,I find it very annoying and I am disappointed with the situation we are in. But now I want to give it a place and let it rest and focus fully on the Dutch national team. I’m going to play my second World Cup. I am very much looking forward to that.”
