She wanted to deliver her best performance, but had to run to the finish with just one shoe. For Daisy Jepkemei, the obstacle course was different than planned.

The World Athletics Championship in Tokyo is in full swing. On the third day of the competition, the 3,000 meter obstacle runners were asked on Monday night. Gesa Krause and Lea Meyer made it into the final. This missed Daisy Jepkemei – the athlete from Kenya, who competes for Kazakhstan, also experienced a curious lead.

Jepkemei lost her shoe in the qualification. In the second round she skipped the first obstacle. Afterwards her Romanian competitor Stella Rutto probably stepped into her heel. The “picture” reports. The Jepkemei shoe no longer offered her a firm stop, so that after around 300 meters she thrown away and continued barefoot.

So she also arrived at the finish line. However, she did not end up among the best athletes in her run and missed the finals.
