Dahmer – Monster: the story of Jeffrey Dahmer: the review by Aldo Grasso of the tv series on Netflix

D.AHMER – I SHOW JEFFREY DAHMER’S STORY
Genre: detective, biographical, dramatic
Direction: Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. With Evan Peters, Richard Jenkins, Molly Ringwald. On Netflix

For a few weeks there has been steadily in the first place of the most viewed content on Netflix Dahmer, a tv series in ten episodes which traces the criminal life of one of the worst serial killers in American history, and beyond: Jeffrey Dahmer, the terrible “monster of Milwaukee”.

Accused of several murders between 1977 and 1991, Dahmer has become an iconic and disturbing figure also because of his brutal methods.the dismemberment of corpses, their storage in a freezer and horrendous acts of cannibalism against its victims.

The series, conceived by two masters of mini-seriality such as Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan (already together in Ratchedthe horror series about the nurse by One flew over the cuckoo’s nest), is a dark path into the abyss of Dahmer’s mind (well played by Evan Peters).

If in the first episode we focus on Dahmer’s modus operandi, up to an unsuccessful murder attempt that ends up handing him over to the police, in the following the series does not sit on the convenient gimmick of horror, but tries to retrace the life of the monster from childhood and adolescencetrying to find the roots of evil, almost like a documentary true crime.

For fans of the genre and of the great criminal stories with psychological implications.
