Reflecting on Television Career

Jeroen van der Boom’s television presence has dramatically shifted over the years. Once a regular face on Dutch TV, Jeroen hosted shows such as “Wedden Dat Ik Het Kan” and “Wat Schat Je?” under a contract with SBS 6. His versatility was displayed in various panel shows like “De Vreemde Eend,” “I Can See Your Voice,” and “Make Up Your Mind”. However, the current trajectory reveals his clear intent to pivot.

Intentional Choices

In an interview with Party, Jeroen explained his strategic choice to move away from panel shows. “In recent years, I’ve made conscious decisions about my television appearances,” he shared. He acknowledges being offered opportunities but asks himself, “Is this what I truly want? Am I good at this? What do I excel at?” His true passion lies in live entertainment, which he finds immensely fulfilling.

He has channeled this realization into a new venture, launching “The Pianoman, De Grootste Pianobar Van Nederland” alongside his wife Dany and restaurant owner Robin Bravenboer. This project represents his commitment to live performance over scripted television appearances.

Stepping Away from BN’er Panels

Jeroen is resolute about distancing himself from the pressure to be the most entertaining figure in celebrity panels. He emphasizes, “I don’t need to be the funniest in a panel with known personalities anymore. I refuse to be constrained by expectations.” While he does not rule out future participation, he focuses on nurturing and expanding his new venture, “The Pianoman.”

His ambition extends beyond national borders, aiming to internationalize this concept. Alongside this, he continues to perform across the country and cherishes time with his family and friends.

Innovation in Performance

Instead of returning to television, Jeroen intends to concentrate solely on live performances. He mentioned exciting plans, such as “Holland Zingt Hazes,” which is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary in both Amsterdam and Rotterdam in 2027. Furthermore, he is innovating the “De Toppers” event, considering integrating new talents to refresh the format, reinforcing his commitment to evolvement in the industry.

Future Aspirations

Looking ahead, Jeroen sees the next five years as a time for significant activity. “I plan to push hard in the coming years; I want to celebrate my sixtieth in a fabulous way,” he remarked confidently. Friends and fellow artists, like René Froger, have reassured him about his longevity in performance, implying that he can still be incredibly active even into his sixties.

Jeroen envisions a performance style that resonates more authentically with who he is, likening it to the energetic vibes of performers like Robbie Williams. “I enjoy singing a song while seated for a bit, but that’s not who I am. I thrive on the energy of performing,” he concluded.
