Daferner puts the ball over the line

Nuremberg had a double chance at the beginning. Jens Castrop’s cross hit the post, Christoph Daferner failed to get past Fürth’s goalkeeper Andreas Linde (8th minute) from seven yards out.

Daferner gave the “Club” the lead a little later: Tim Handwerker crossed from the right and Kwadwo Duah headed the ball back from the second post to the middle, where Daferner hipped the ball over the line from very close range. Branimir Hrgota had the best opportunity for the guests when he failed in the 36th minute after a through ball by the rushing goalkeeper Christian Mathenia.

Tobias Raschl also had the chance to equalize after the break when he fired a shot from six yards out on the right – but Mathenia was there with a foot-defense. And that’s how Manuel Wintzheimer made it clear for the “Club” in the Frankenderby in the 81st minute: After fine preliminary work by Taylan Duman, Wintzheimer only had to complete the six-yard box.
