The cyclists drove along the Dammerweg and were barely able to avoid the 89-year-old motorist. Instead of hitting the brakes, she pressed the accelerator. Then she drove into the water at full speed.
Her car ended up on its side in the icy water. The startled cyclists rushed to the water’s edge to stabilize the car. The quickly arrived fire brigade then managed to remove the woman from the car.

The woman was collected and checked by ambulance personnel, but did not have to be taken to hospital. She was brought home by ambulance. The cyclists then continued their way home.
A salvager lifted the car out of the water and took it away.
