In Dubai, the big favorite, the European champion Wiebes, has to surrender in the first part of the Emirate race
In the first, historic stage of the women’s UAE Tour (first World Tour race for women in the United Arab Emirates), the winning sprint of the Dutch Charlotte Kool (Dsm) who in Dubai after 109 kilometers beat her compatriot Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx), big favorite and reigning European champion. Third place for Chiara Consonni (Uae Adq). Two more Italians in the top ten: fourth place for Maria Giulia Confalonieri and ninth for Valentina Basilico. Charlotte Kool is also the first leader of the race: for her, 23 years old, this is the 5th success of the season, the second of the World Tour. The second stage, 133 km, is scheduled for Friday from Al Dhafra Castle to Al Mirfa. Conclusion Sunday, the uphill finish at Jebel Hafeet is scheduled for Saturday.
