Niklas Behrens was involved in an accident with several drivers at the UAE tour race and was injured. How long the U23 world champion will fail is open.

The Bremen cycling talent Niklas Behrens suffered a broken collarbone during the mass crash on the final stage of the UAE tour in the United Arab Emirates. This was announced by his team Visma/Lease A Bike.

According to the Dutch racing team, the 21-year-old junior world champion, for which the two-time tour de france winner Jonas Vingegaard also runs. How long Behrens will fail is not known.

After a short recovery phase, Niklas will resume training. We wish him a early recovery and look forward to seeing him again in the main field soon.

Tour winner Froome also injured

The U23 world champion will not be able to start at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The 1.95 -meter sprinter from Visma was intended for the one -day race in Belgium.

It is the first season for Behrens on the World Tour. The four-time tour winner Chris Froome had also fallen in the mass crash, which had already occurred over the first ten kilometers. The Brit also suffered a broken collarbone.
