In the women’s Bundesliga, players have repeatedly torn their cruciate ligaments since the start of the season. Now an actor from Union Berlin has also been caught.
Union Berlin has to do without Korina Janez for months. The Slovenian international was seriously injured in the away game against Werder Bremen at the weekend. The 21-year-old tore a cruciate ligament – and without any enemy influence.
“October was already full of cruciate ligament injuries, and now it happened to me too – I tore my anterior cruciate ligament,” Janez wrote on Instagram. Her club announced that the midfielder should undergo “operation as soon as possible”.
The injury is one of a series of such cases: since the beginning of July, almost a dozen players in the Bundesliga have torn their cruciate ligaments. Most recently, Lena Oberdorf from FC Bayern Munich was also hit. The national player suffered a serious injury to her right knee for the second time in 15 months. Studies have shown several times that women are more often affected by cruciate ligament tears than men.
