ÖSV: Vermeulen at the start

Mika Vermeulen is the only Austrian who will take on the 20 kilometers in the classic way. The 24-year-old has starting number 50, which puts him at the back of the field. However, danger lurks from behind: one minute after Vermeulen, high-flyer Johannes Høsflot Klæbo will set off on the track.

Duo for Germany

In yesterday’s team sprint, the duo consisting of Jan Stölben and Anian Sossau came in 13th. However, neither will be competing today. Janosch Brugger and Friedrich Moch are at the start for Germany, starting with numbers nine and 38.

The favorites

There has not yet been an individual over 20 kilometers in the classic technique this season. But the favorites – almost as always – are the Scandinavian nations. In yesterday’s team sprint, the Norwegian duo Pål Golberg and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo won ahead of Norway II. The local heroes Iivo Niskanen and Lauri Vuorinnen came in third place. However, the teams benefited from a crash by Team France – and the French around Jules Chappaz and Hugo Lapalus should also be taken into account today. The man in yellow, Norwegian Harald Østberg Amundsen, will take part in the race today with start number 40.

Four World Cup stops at the end of the season

The Cross Country World Cup is in the last trimester of the season. After the races overseas, all four final World Cup stops will take place in Scandinavia. In addition to the stops in Oslo and Drammen, the World Cup final will take place in Falun, Sweden. But now the eyes are on Lahti, where a team sprint was completed yesterday.
