Cristiano Ronaldo’s 7.3 million euro penthouse has been the talk of the town in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon in recent years.

British newspaper The Sun reported in the summer of 2021 that Ronaldo received an order from the city to remove the gazebo from the roof of his apartment, which he had built there in violation of the law.

Ronaldo had erected a large glass cube on top of the apartment building. The architect of the house Jose Mateus said at the time that the football star’s gazebo would “disgrace” the building’s architecture.

– Despising our work in this way, without the approval of the architects, neighbors and the city, is something I will not watch, Mateus reported two years ago according to The Sun.

The gazebo was also said to have caused an illegal situation where the apartment building exceeded the maximum height set for it.

In addition, the structure was described as “eye-sorely ugly” and spoiling the urban landscape in the heart of Lisbon.

Let’s fix it

British newspaper Daily Mail now reports that Ronaldo has been granted a building permit for his penthouse, which allows construction on the roof.

The Portuguese has been given until July to erect a pergola, i.e. a kind of garden canopy, in place of the gazebo.

According to the Daily Mail, Ronaldo’s representatives have not commented on the construction dispute in any way, but in any case, video footage of the demolition of the gazebo has been published in the Portuguese media.

The football star’s penthouse is located right in the center of Lisbon, next to the park named after King Edward VII. When Ronaldo bought the apartment in 2018, it instantly became the most expensive property in the history of the entire country.

Ronaldo is also building a luxurious mansion on the outskirts of Lisbon. This is what the construction site looked like in November 2022.
