Second division soccer team FC St. Pauli surprisingly parted ways with coach Timo Schultz. The club announced this on Tuesday and referred to the negative sporting development in the 2022 calendar year.
Club president Oke Göttlich and sports director Andreas Bornemann described the separation as a difficult but necessary decision. Assistant coach Loic Favè was also relieved of his duties. Schultz only extended his contract with the Kiezkicker last January.
“We have analyzed and discussed the past few months intensively and unfortunately feel compelled to act now,” said Bornemann. “The long winter break is the right moment to set the course for a successful second half of the season.”
Assistant coach Hürzeler takes over for the time being
The training, which the Kiezkicker will resume on Friday, will initially be led by assistant coach Fabian Hürzeler. “Fabian has already shown how valuable his expertise and consistency are for the team,” said Bornemann.
