On Wednesday evening around 8 p.m., the so -called ‘Flying Brigade’ in the Via Vigonovese in Padua intercepted a car with Dutch license plates. The car was stolen the night before from a tourist who had parked his vehicle on the Piazza dell ‘Insurrezione.
Three passengers have been arrested
After a short chase, the car was stopped and the three occupants were arrested before they could flee. All were taken to the police station for identification, Italian media report.
The driver turned out to be a 16-year-old Tunisian, who spent illegally in the country and already had a criminal record. Next to him, on the front bank, was a peer of Moldovan descent, born in Italy. In the back seat was a 20-year-old Italian, living in Padua, who was already known to the police for property crimes.
The three are charged for the theft of the car. In the evening, the police managed to detect the owner of the vehicle, a Dutch tourist. He got his car back.
Since the beginning of this year, the flying brigade of the police station in Padua has carried out around 180 arrests and issued almost 700 official reports. Of the arrests, 133 took place red -handed, often during street controls. In 59 cases, the criminals were minors, without a permanent residence in the city. They were best known to the police for drug deals.
