Covid and school, here’s how the rules in the classroom change in case of positive

The rules for managing close contacts in the classroom are changing. The rules are diversified based on the Covid-19 positives confirmed in the education, school and training system. Here are the rules dictated by the new decree approved by the Council of Ministers of 5 January 2022.

With a case of 10 days of detention in educational services and preschools

In the educational services for children and in state and equal preschools, in the presence of a case of positivity in the same section or class group, a suspension of activities for ten days is applied.

The rules in primary school based on infections

In primary schools, in the presence of a positive in the class, surveillance with a rapid or molecular antigen test is triggered as soon as the positive case is known. The swab must be repeated after five days. If there are two positive cases in the class, integrated digital teaching takes place for a duration of ten days.

What to do in secondary schools

In lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools and in the education and vocational training system up to two cases of positivity in the classroom, self-monitoring is applied with the use of Ffp2 masks and with face-to-face teaching. With three positive cases in the class, those who have not completed the primary vaccination cycle for less than 120 days or have not recovered for less than 120 days (without third dose), integrated digital teaching is applied for ten days. Those who have completed the vaccination cycle or are cured are in self-surveillance with the use of Ffp2 masks. With at least four cases of positivity in the class, integrated digital teaching for ten days.

Free tests for tracking

Until February 28th, free rapid antigen tests among the school population of first and second grade secondary schools to guarantee the tracing of infections.
