Marleen and Henri make it a tradition every year to brighten up the dark days of December. Marleen Delaere: “That’s actually the intention. We live in a dark street, but people can see from afar, when they pass the main road, that there is something to do there. Let’s take a look. Two days ago someone from Mechelen stopped here. We also saw Dutch and English people. They come from everywhere.”
Lots of details
Marleen’s shop window is also impressive and illuminated in the evening and early morning. Many details of Blankenberge are included. “The beach with the boats and the breakwaters, the waterway, the paravang… the small typical garbage bins… There are about ten of them. And also my husband Henri, who is driving his garbage truck.”
Take fifteen minutes
Marleen had most of the work on the town hall, the giants and the fence of Blankenberge. To see everything properly, you really need to spend fifteen minutes.
