Over 1500 flights worldwide canceled in Santo Stefano
Over 1,500 flights were canceled worldwide today, causing additional inconvenience to travelers planning to travel by plane over the holiday period. According to the FlightAware tracking website, a total of up to 5,900 flights were canceled between Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and today, Boxing Day. Chinese and US airlines appear to be the hardest hit and further inconvenience is expected on Monday. The companies attributed the cancellations to understaffing and the rapidly spreading Omicron variant. According to FlightAware, more than 450 flights to or from US airports were canceled on Sunday.
