Conflicting reports about Leon Goretzka’s future

Reports that Leon Goretzka is thinking about leaving FC Bayern next summer do not correspond to the facts.

This is what “Sky” reports. Accordingly, there is no question of a change for the 28-year-old either now or after the current season. There is therefore no contact with other clubs.

It is also said that Goretzka has not complained to coach Thomas Tuchel or the management team at FC Bayern about his current difficult sporting situation.

“Sport Bild” had previously reported that Goretzka was considering a move to the English Premier League. However, the report remained unclear as to whether the former Schalke player already has a specific club in mind.

One thing is clear: Goretzka is anything but set at FC Bayern in 2023/2024. In 27 competitive games he was only in the starting line-up ten times.

Although the midfielder has been slightly injured at times, he is obviously not at the top of Tuchel’s list.

FC Bayern: Lothar Matthäus criticizes Leon Goretzka

The Bochum native had already indicated in November 2023 that he could leave the German record champions sooner or later. Asked by the Munich “Abendzeitung” whether Goretzka could imagine ending his career at FC Bayern or abroad, he replied: “Both are conceivable, including ending his career in the Ruhr region.”

Record national player Lothar Matthäus recently told “Sky90” that the star’s reserve role was “not good for the mood. Even the players can’t understand this decision against Goretzka.”

The 57-time national player is “respected in the team. He is a mentality player who brings exactly what no one else in this team has, especially in games like this,” said the 1990 world champion.

Tuchel said at the PK before the catch-up game against Union Berlin on Wednesday (8:30 p.m.) that Goretzka was “completely in the competition” and would “play his games”.
