Comatose footballer Donny van Iperen may return to the Netherlands on Saturday

Donny van Iperen will probably fly from Moldova to the Netherlands on Saturday. “It looks like it now, but a medical team has to determine whether it is safe,” his brother Joey said from Moldova. The footballer from Sint Pancras has been in a coma since last Saturday after a terrible collision on the football field during a match of his club FC Zimbru.

The day before yesterday it came out that it had not yet been possible to bring the North Holland footballer to the Netherlands. Transport and hospital bed could not be arranged in the Netherlands, because Van Iperen has no Dutch health insurance. The defender is registered in Moldova and was therefore dependent on care in that country. The Erasmus MC in Rotterdam has now announced that they can record the football player.

Van Iperen played in the youth of AZ and also played for Telstar. In recent years he played for the Greek AE Karaiskakis. This summer he transferred to the Moldovan FC Zimbru.
