Now that the war, sorry the enforced peace, is getting closer, we can have fun with the Brekelmans-Tuinman duo who together staff the Ministry of Defense. Minister Ruben Brekelmans is not afraid of the devil, nor of Putin, while State Secretary Gijs Tuinman is more concerned with the practical side such as purchasing equipment, recruiting soldiers and decorating our barracks. By the way, he isn’t afraid either, otherwise he wouldn’t have such a lot of medals. Defense will have purchased anti-drone systems in 2023, with which, according to Tuinman, you can opt for ‘a soft kill’ or a ‘hard kill’: disrupting or shooting down drones.

It was meant to be reassuring, but for the time being we are left with the hard truth that the troops present in Volkel are unable to take down drones that, according to Tuinman, are ‘for sale to everyone in the Mediamarkt’. They suddenly appeared at the military airport, there was an adequate response, but they were able to get away unhindered. In military terms: a no kill.

Three guesses how afraid they are of us in Moscow. We are really nothing at all, a zero, just as bad as Belgium: in the only place where, as everyone knows, we ‘hide’ nuclear warheads, we cannot block off the airspace. Even absolute amateurs can wreak havoc.

Our airspace is open. It is better for everyone if I do not get involved in this any further, but I assume that if I feel bad tomorrow, I can effortlessly stop air traffic at and around Schiphol with Mediamarkt stuff. And then I would also be willing to bet a few hundred euros that Tuinman’s selection team will not succeed in finding me.

Just assume that if I feel bad tomorrow, I can effortlessly stop air traffic at and around Schiphol with Mediamarktspul

The fear is now so great that we do not dare to point out Putin’s Russia as a possible suspect. Gardener, decoratively one of our bravest, blamed ‘ignorants’, ‘criminals’ or ‘young people hired by evildoers’ who controlled the drones.

Ruben Brekelmans will once again address Russia (and the US) as fiercely as possible in the coming days about Trump’s plan for Ukraine and Gijs Tuinman would rather bite off his tongue than provoke a country that previously shot down a passenger plane with 196 Dutch people on board by accusing them of violating our airspace. In the meantime, our soldiers are trying to master the brand new anti-drone systems and are taking a crash course in shooting in the dark. To reassure ourselves even further, we might soon chase a drone from the Mediamarkt with an F35.
