The 1st FC Köln left important points against the bottom of the 2nd Bundesliga against the bottom of the Bundesliga and missed the league lead from Hamburger SV (56 points). As second in the table (55), the Cologneers still have everything in their own hands. The lead over the relegation place on which the SC Paderborn is located is only three points.
In front of 49,500 spectators in the Cologne stadium, Tim Lemperle (59th minute) scored the lead for the hosts with his tenth goal of the season. Noah Ganaus (76.) equalized to the guests and thus ensured the first away goal of the Upper Palatinate gate since February.
The home side determined the game right from the start, but acted too harmless and unclean in the last third. In particular, the last pass rarely arrived despite some chances. Regensburg held well against it and set accents with individual counterattacks. FC keeper Marvin Schwäbe parried against Sebastian Ernst (19th) and Ganaus (45.+3). At the break, the Cologne fans said goodbye to their team with whistles into the cabin.

After the restart, Lemperle redeemed the FC when he transported the 14th goal shot of the billy goats into the net after a cross from Luca Waldschmidt. A little later, however, Swabia also had to grab behind: After a cross, Ganaus initially failed with a head on the goalkeeper, but then pushed the rebound over the line from a short distance. In the final phase, Cologne pushed in vain for the winning goal.
