Coldplay: ex-manager is suing the band for around twelve million euros

Coldplay are being sued by their former manager. All information about the legal dispute can be found here.

Dave Holmes, the former manager of Coldplay, is suing the British band for around twelve million euros. This has now become known through disclosed court documents. The ex-manager’s accusations cite a promised deal in connection with the group’s tenth and eleventh studio albums.

Holmes worked with the band around singer Chris Martin for more than 20 years. The contract is said to have expired at the end of 2022, after which Coldplay decided not to apply for an extension. The manager mainly handled logistics, preparing budgets, arranging recording sessions and collaborating on the band’s tours. So far, no other reasons for the split have been announced.

The band reportedly received an advance of around 76 million euros for the two unreleased records. Based on the two previous works EVERYDAY LIFE and MUSIC OF THE SPHERES, Holmes would be entitled to a commission of around eight to twelve percent. The manager is now asking the court to validate the contract in question and order payment of the outstanding commission.

If this request is not complied with, Dave Holmes asks that “a reasonable fee be paid”. His lawyers estimate this amount at around twelve million euros. Coldplay’s spokesman told UNILAD on the legal situation: “The matter is now in the hands of Coldplay’s lawyers and the claims are vigorously contested.”

In 2024, Coldplay will be coming to Germany on their “Music Of The Spheres World Tour”. Read more about the individual dates and ticket prices here. The pop rock band’s tenth studio album has already been announced. However, there is no exact release date for MOON MUSIC yet.
