In Drenthe, Code Geel applies from 2 p.m. due to the chance of thunderstorms. The KNMI issues the weather warning for the provinces of Drenthe, Groningen, Friesland, Flevoland, Gelderland, Noord-Holland and the Wadden Islands.
Code Geel applies until 6 p.m. According to the KNMI, there is a chance of gusts, hail and a lot of precipitation during the showers. During the thunderstorms, it is advised to stay away from open water and open areas, not to hide under trees and to drive more slowly and to keep more distance on the road.
Rijkswaterstaat reports that traffic can suffer from the weather and the evening rush hour can be busier.
RTV Drenthe weatherman Hans Nienhuis does not expect any big problems for our province for the time being: “A few thunderstorms pull our province inside from the southwest. Here and there it can turn out a bit more firmly. Maybe with some gusts of wind, but they will not blaze trees. Most showers are going away at the end of the day and then we have a fairly quiet evening tonight.”
