A few words, but a simple and direct message that Elena Rybakina wanted to send to the WTA on the case involving Stefano Vukov. At the Kazaza coach, the current number five in the world, the suspension from the tour for violation of the Code of Conduct was confirmed, following an independent investigation that has as its object his behavior towards the tennis player. “I can only say that I am disappointed by the situation and the way the whole process took place. I am not going to make further comments in this regard “: these are the declarations on the case that Elena made at the press conference after the victory against Sramkova in the round of 16 of the WTA 1000 of Doha.

At the end of the investigation, the WTA limited itself to confirming Vukov’s suspension from the circuit, without giving specific reasons on the decision taken. It was subsequently the New York Times that revealed further details. In the file delivered to the Croatian coach, three pages long, we speak above all of “psychological abuses”, of a relationship called “toxic” with the winning player of Wimbledon in 2022 and a romantic relationship between the two. A situation that does not help Rybakina, who has chosen to direct all its energies on tennis: “It is clear that this is not my best time, but I always remain concentrated on my matches, when I get on the field I think only of the way I owe play. I am concentrated on myself and, of course, on my opponent ”.

Despite the decision of the WTA, Stefano Vukov remains the coach of Elena Rybakina: it will follow her only at a distance and in the weeks when the player is not engaged in tournaments. Instead, in his box the new entry Davide Sanguinetti was present. The former blue tennis player is with the Kazaka in Doha and is aware of how important the Croatian coach is for Elena: “Vukov will always be there, he and Elena are tied.
