Coach Tuchel surprises with plain language about the separation

The coach of the German record champions speaks in detail about the decision to separate at the end of the season – and surprises with an explanation.

2-1 in the top game against RB Leipzig, showing an overall more appealing performance and not losing sight of Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen: FC Bayern Munich can breathe a little again after three tough defeats in a row – including coach Thomas Tuchel the Munich team announced their early separation at the end of the season during the week.

And the 50-year-old spoke clearly about the decision on Saturday evening after the game on ZDF – and looked deeply into it: “I won’t give any details about the one-on-one conversation,” said Tuchel. Then the Bayern coach said sentences that can be interpreted as an indication that he would have liked to have stayed at the club: “But I’m still an employee. And as an employee, you don’t always have all the options, you don’t always have all the trump cards Hand. But everything is fine.”

“That’s clear”

How he deals with the decision “doesn’t matter at all,” Tuchel continued. The coming months until the end of the season must now be managed professionally: “I am in a leadership role, I have responsibility for the entire staff. It is top-class sport, we will fight for every point. Sentiments are put aside.”

The main reason for the decision was “to avoid such a spiraling course. That’s clear. Whether we like it or not.”

Tuchel also emphasized again that the relationship with the team was intact and that there was no break, no “sigh of relief” among the players about his departure: “I can’t imagine that Aleksandar Pavlović will be happy or relieved that I’m leaving at the end of the season . Or a Raphaël Guerreiro, Min-jae Kim or Manuel Neuer.” And further: “I would be very, very surprised if I were the backpack they carry around.”
