Looking for a successor for Pereira

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ new coach could be Rob Edwards. On Saturday, his club FC Middlesbrough announced that they had released the coach for talks with the struggling Premier League club – a few hours before Boro had to play against Birmingham City in the second division game. In a club statement, they made their dissatisfaction with the coach’s wishes clear.
The Boro statement shows that an initial request from Wolves was initially rejected “as Rob had only signed a three-year contract with MFC less than six months ago. After discussions with Rob, we were disappointed to learn that he wanted to speak to Wolves about their vacant head coach position. We have now reached an agreement with Wolves, subject to the completion of the necessary formalities.” The Boro team was looked after by assistant coaches Adi Viveash and Harry Watling on Saturday.
In Wolverhampton they shouldn’t have to pay a small fee for Middlesbrough’s coach. His contract is valid until 2028. In his tenure, which only lasted a few months, Edwards achieved seven wins and five draws with only two defeats from the first 14 league games. Boro are in third place in the second division table behind Coventry and Stoke City. With a win against Birmingham you would climb to a direct promotion place (to the live ticker).
Wolves are looking for a successor to Vítor Pereira, who left less than two months after signing a new three-year contract. The defeat against Fulham on Saturday was the last straw for the bottom team in the English elite league. Wolves haven’t won a single one of their 14 league games since April. After the 10th matchday of the current season, they are already nine points behind the non-relegation zone with just two points of their own.
Only three times in the history of the Premier League has a team started a new season worse than Wolves. Wolverhampton’s only two successes this season came in the EFL Cup, which also recently ended in the round of 16 against Chelsea (3:4).
