There are some changes in the management team of the Berlin online retailer Zalando. On the one hand, the company announced two new additions with Graeme Smith and James Rothwell on Friday, and on the other hand, co-CEO David Schröder takes on an additional task.

Both new additions will work at Senior Vice President level. Rothwell takes over the role of Senior Vice President Marketing from March 2025. In this position, the industry expert, who previously worked for the Tikial Media platform TIKTOK and the Netflix streaming service, will be responsible for the marketing strategy and the further development of the consumer brand.

Smith will take over the position of Senior Vice President Engineering. He starts his position in May and is intended to strengthen the tech organization and further develop the engineering strategy from Zalando. Both will work closely with Andrew Watts, SVP Product Management, and Anne Pascual, SVP Product Design & Content, as well as their teams.

Schröder again also works as a CFO

Smith and Rothwell’s appointments complement the latest reinforcement of the Zalando Senior Leadership team by two internal managers, Joanna Rogers and Steph Warnery. As Senior Vice President, Rogers heads the Zalando Partner Marketing Services (ZMS) and is responsible for all commercial and technical aspects of advertising on the Zalando platform in this role, while Warnery, as Vice President People Solutions Partnering teams as well as the teams who are responsible for the development of the internal P&O offers from Zalando. The extended management team is intended to support Zalando in promoting its strategy and further expanding the leading European e-commerce ecosystem for fashion and lifestyle.

In addition to the new additions, there is also a change at the management level: Co-CEO David Schröder takes on the role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He is the successor to CFO Sandra Dembeck. Last year it was announced that Dembeck would not extend its contract expiring at the end of February. For Schröder, it is a return to the role of the financial officer – he was already the position from 2019 to 2022. Until a permanent successor is found, he will guide the areas and corporate governance at Zalando.
