His former clubs want to help Tom Weilandt, suffering from blood cancer. After Bochum and Rostock, a regional league also calls for typing at the weekend.
Tom Weilandt’s fate moves tens of thousands of football fans. The sympathy among the 33-year-old’s ex-club, who is ill from leukemia, is particularly great. It needs a stem cell donation.
VfL Bochum and Hansa Rostock called their fans and members for help for their former midfielder last weekend. Both clubs organized a typing campaign around their home games – Bochum on Saturday, Rostock on Sunday.
At the end of the season, the Greifswald FC will also follow on Sunday. Weilandt last played for this. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., people between the ages of 17 and 55 can register as a potential stem cell donor. The home game of the Greifswald against Halleschen FC begins at 1:05 p.m. More information is available here.
Tom Weilandt is the son of former Hansa professional Hilmar Weilandt. He had suffered leukemia last year. Cancer has now returned.
