Despite the marathon in the city, the climate activists occupied an intersection in Schöneberg. Dozens of participants sat down on the corner of Potsdamer Strasse and Kurfürstenstrasse on Saturday afternoon, said a police spokeswoman.

Glue was not used, as was the case with other blockades in the group.

The spokeswoman said emergency services were still carrying the protesters off the street in the late afternoon. The officials determined the identities of a good 100 people, with a peak of around 130 people taking part in the march. The police were initially unaware of any arrests or further consequences.

Among other things, the climate activists criticized the fact that the police checked everyone who arrived the morning before the group’s event in the Apostle Church in Schöneberg and took down their personal details.

A police spokeswoman spoke of “close observation” of the group, also because of the announced disruption to the marathon on Sunday. Participants in the smaller skater marathon took part in the capital on Saturday. According to the police, he was not affected by the action.
