City council still agrees with surety for Hallenhoes Exloo

A new hall cover will be built on the site of the burnt-out Bebinghehoes, which later housed the Turv distillery. The Saxon farmhouse from 1722 completely burned down in 2017. The former owner of the distillery was killed. The municipality of Borger-Odoorn bought the site from the widow and commissioned the village council of Exloo to fill in the area.

The intention is that there will be a new hall cover with a village square. At the moment it is still a bare spot. The intention is to create space for Astron’s Open Science Hub and the Tourist Information Point will also be housed there. In addition, entrepreneurs can temporarily rent a space and the information center of the sheep herd wants to use it.

The plans cost a total of 2.3 million euros. This amount is jointly paid by the municipality, province, grants from funds and the Management Foundation Het Plein. The plans are 400,000 euros more expensive because of the rising construction costs.
