Her brother calls it all hocus pocus, but Cindy Keus-Sonneville (51) gets a lot of peace from it. Since childhood, her grandmother and mother have introduced Cindy to the world of spirituality. Now she is opening her own store. “My mother always commuted and I found that very interesting as a child.”

After years of hard work and always keeping going, two of them made it happen burnouts made sure that Cindy had to listen to her body’s signals. This forced her to think about what she really wanted in her life. “Spirituality taught me to feel again and gave me insight and peace. I would like to share that experience and knowledge in my store.”

Dancing in the moonlight

She doesn’t call herself a bitch and stands with both feet on the ground. “That association is often made. But you won’t see me dancing under the moon in a blue dress.” That’s why she uses the word spiriwiri for people concerned with spirituality. “It’s mainly about being open to your feelings, your intuition and the energy around you. I always lived in my head, but by feeling, I know what works for me.”

Happy place

Figurines, incense, meditation cushions, books, tarot cards, journalshome accessories and much more can be found in the new Spiriwiri Store in the Dorpsstraat from Saturday 13 December. In addition to selling spiritual items, Cindy also holds workshops in the middle of the store, such as commuting, moon workshops, vision boards making and laying tarot cards. “It becomes one happy place.”

Use your senses

Cindy always enjoyed visiting the gift shop De Troostkamer for gemstones, figurines and small gifts. Since it closed a year ago, she misses a store with spiritual items in Zoetermeer and the personal contact. “I’ve always wanted my own store, so one and one made two.”

I’m not clairvoyant, but I can sense things well

People around her question the idea of whether it is smart to open a specialty store at this time. “But you have to feel, smell and see the products I sell. In addition, I think personal contact when giving advice is very important. I can really take some time for someone. A webshop is too impersonal.”

Laying bubbles and tarot cards
