The German riding Olympic champion Christian Kukuk experienced an exciting Saturday. He triumphed – and also became a father.
A day that Christian Kukuk will not forget so quickly: just a few hours after the birth of his daughter, the Olympic champion celebrated his next triumph at the tournament in Wellington. With Wallach Checker, the 35-year-old secured victory in the Grand Prix as in the previous year-and thus the main prize, endowed with $ 750,000.
Around noon his girlfriend Veronica Tracy had become a mother. “It’s just incredible,” said the rider from Riesenbeck visibly moved after success.
Kukuk explained that Veronica Tracy actually wanted to witness the tournament on site. But it turned out differently. Immediately after the winner’s interview, the newly baked father addressed emotional words to his partner: “Veronica, I love you. I’m there as quickly as possible.”
Kukuk celebrated his surprising Olympic victory in singles last year just after the news of pregnancy. Now on Saturday evening he succeeded in repeating the Grand Prix success in Florida at the end of the US tournament series. With two flawless rounds, he prevailed in front of Laura Kraut with Bisqueta.
