After the European Tour event in Munich at Easter, darts world champion Luke Littler caused a stir with a cryptic post about German fans. Ex-professional Vincent van der Voort has protected “The Nuke” for his surprising criticism.
“It is a bit childish to react like this, especially if you are such a big champion at the age of eighteen, right?” Podcast moderator Damian Vlottes said the Dutch and good friend of Michael van Gerwen in “Darts Draait Door” on the 18-year-old’s Instagram post, who caused a whirl on Easter Monday.
Van der Voort sees it a little differently. “You have to consider that he is first eighteen. He is not yet used to lose,” said the 49-year-old behind the youngster: “No darts player can handle defeats well. Littler has to fight with it. He needs some coaching and instructions so that he can better handle these emotions.
Darts: PDC “stunned” for post by Luke Littler?
“I shouldn’t have been in Munich, but I still had to play, the next time I am Dortmund for me in Germany and I’m glad to say that,” the Supersta had emphasized on Easter Monday in his Instagram story. The 18-year-old had previously played into the semi-finals at the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich before the Dutch Gian van Veen ended 4: 7 in the LEGs.
With his announcement only to return to Dortmund, the reigning world champion alluded to the European Darts Championship (October 23 to 26) in autumn. The major tournament in the Westfalenhalle forms the end of the European Tour annually. The darts series in this country previously stops in Sindelfingen, Leverkusen, Kiel and Hildesheim.
Littler would also not take part in the World Cup of Darts, which takes place in Frankfurt from June 12th to 15th “I am sure that the PDC wants to talk to him – they have to be stunned. And if England against Germany comes to a game, I can guarantee that there will be some boos,” believes van der voort.
