Chelsea FC is back in the Premier League on the winning road and in the Champions League ranks. Thanks to a 2-1 (0: 1) success over West Ham United for ex-coach Graham Potter, the team from Enzo Maresca jumped in fourth and displaced Manchester City. In the last league game, Chelsea had lost against the master (1: 3). For West Hams Potter, the game was something special.
The Brit had stood on the sidelines of Chelsea for seven months between 2022 and 2023. In addition, Potter played as a player together with Maresca near West Brom in the late 1990s.
Although Chelsea had more parties in the first half, the guests took the lead thanks to Jarrod Bowen (42nd). In the second round, Chelsea was allowed to compensate (64th) after a long VAR check Pedro Netos. Key player Cole Palmer then turned the game with a deflected shot – but was considered the own goal of Aaron Wan -Bissaka (74.). Despite a hot final phase, nothing changed in the result.
The German striker Niclas Füllkrug was again missing West Ham because of a thigh injury.
