With the transfer of Lesley Ugochukwu (21) to FC Burnley, Chelsea’s squad “shrunk” to 38 players – Armando Broja (23) will also switch from the blues to the Clarets and the transfer income of this summer increases to around 232 million euros. For midfield talent Ugochukwu, the transfer of which was officially confirmed, Burnley pays a transfer fee of 28.7 million euros. For center forward Broja, who has scored three goals in 53 games in the past three seasons, around 23 million euros are due.

This means that Chelsea is able to achieve comparatively high replacement for professionals who hardly played a role in the club or were finally awarded. This is how midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (26), who goes to Everton for EUR 28.7 million, at Bournemouth’s new goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic (25), who earned 28.9 million euros or João Félix (25). The latter landed at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia for 30 million euros after his fifth transfer since 2023.

Broja’s upcoming move to Burnley would be the 15th departure of the Londoners this summer with transfer income of EUR 232 million. The eight entrances, including ex-BVB attacker Jamie Gitten (20) for 56 million euros, can cost the blues 280 million euros. The squad of coach Enzo Maresca will certainly be reduced by about 15 players by September 1st.

For promoted Burnley, Ugochukwu, who ran a loan for Southampton in 2024/25, the record shopping and Broja, who last stormed for Everton, will find itself in the 3rd place in the most expensive approach in the club history. The fact that the association from the northwest of England pays significantly above market value is nothing special for transfers within the Premier League. However, it is noteworthy that Chelsea succeeded in this summer with eight out of nine sales.
