In the latest episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Charlize Theron spoke about why she does not give the director’s name, which she accuses of sexually harassing her when she was still at the beginning of her career.

When moderator Alex Cooper asked her why she made her story public, the star from The Old Guard 2 remembered the incident. For the first time, Theron talked about her experience in an interview at the Howard Stern Show in 2019. At that time, she said that she went to an audition in the house of a director late at night and that he received her in her pajamas. According to Theron, the director put her hand on her knee, whereupon she got up and gone.

“I didn’t know how an audition usually works,” said Theron to Cooper. “The little voice in me definitely said: ‘This is not right.’ But then there was another voice in me that said: ‘Well, I don’t know.

“He knew it was about him”

Theron said that the director “got pretty nervous for a while after being known to her story”. She added: “I never said his name because I honestly don’t want the story to be about him. It is not that I protect him or something, but he got nervous for a while.”

She further explained: “Because he heard the story told and he knew that it was about him. And he wrote me a fake letter in which he wanted to explain his behavior and said I must have misunderstood it. That is classic, isn’t it?”

“I think he panic,” she continued. “And I became aware: I will not even say your damn name. Because you know that you are a disgust package. You know that you mean. And if someone ever asks me, I would answer completely honestly – and he knows that. And somehow I like the thought that he is sitting on hot coals now. He doesn’t know when it comes. And I almost like that.”

Theron shows respect for Alex Cooper’s openness

In her current documentary “Call Her Alex”, Cooper himself told about alleged sexual harassment that started in 2013 when she played in the Boston University’s women’s football team. She claimed that her then trainer Nancy Feldman had developed a fixation on her. Which led to “deeply unpleasant” situations. Among them verbal remarks and physical touches.

In an interview with Podcast presenter Cooper, Theron said that she was “grateful” for Cooper told her story. And respect your decision.

“I think we have to tell these stories. So that we understand that we are not alone,” said Theron. “It is difficult to tell her in a world in which people just don’t want to believe you damn it. Really, really difficult. It doesn’t make it easy for us.”
