The public prosecutor’s office in Leipzig has brought charges against pop singer Melanie Müller because she is said to have shown the Hitler salute several times in public.

The investigators refer to an incident on the night of September 18, 2022 in Leipzig. At one event, Müller is said to have repeatedly shown the Hitler salute to the audience from the stage.

The prosecutor’s office in Leipzig announced on Wednesday that the charge was for the use of license plates of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations. The district court of Leipzig now has to decide whether to admit the charges and open main proceedings.

The 34-year-old had denied the allegations and rejected any proximity to right-wing extremists. The gesture in question was a fanatic movement for the audience.

In connection with the investigation, the police searched Müller’s house in Leipzig last year. The presumption of innocence applies to the singer, who is also known for her Ballermann performances on Mallorca.
