Chappell Roan refuses photos and autographs at Paris Fashion Week – the internet goes crazy. Noah Kahan clearly takes her side.

Chappell Roan has recently received a lot of hate on social media because she posted a video there (and it subsequently went viral) in which she half ignored and half attacked paparazzi and autograph seekers. Here’s more about the context.

“I am disrespected as a human being”

Chappell Roan attended several runway shows during Paris Fashion Week and wanted to spend the evening at a restaurant. Lots of people were already waiting for her there, wanting autographs and photos from her and not leaving her alone. Some of the people were fans of the singer, but also many photographers.

She recorded a video of the situation, which she then shared on social media, in which she says: “I’m being disrespected as a human being. I just want to go to dinner and I’ve asked these people several times to leave me alone.”

In the clip you can see, among other things, how one of the people tries to get her to sign something, whereupon she refuses to do so.

Shitstorm on the internet

She received a huge shitstorm on the Internet for her reaction. Some call her “mean” and “rude.”

“That was so unnecessary,” one person commented. Someone else wrote: “She chose to be famous?”

Autographs just for resale?

However, one person came forward and defended the singer and her right to be left alone. Noah Kahan, the American folk-rock singer, posted an Instagram story in which he said: “Maybe they should just leave her alone? Besides, these guys running after her saying ‘I’m a big fan’ are just autograph hunters and just as bad as the paparazzi. Fuck them all.”

The singer underlined his opinion with a second story and explained in a video that he found it bad that many people would find out where you live, where you would fly to and where your family and team of stars were staying and would then lie in wait for you there.

He also said that most people who would demand autographs from them would just resell them: “They’re disgusting, manipulative, parasitic, and yeah, screw them. Seriously, screw them. Don’t feel sorry for them. They’re not fans. They’re just businessmen trying to exploit people for profit and their own gain. So they can fuck off – they should eat their damn nails.”

Not the first incident of this kind

The situation is not the first in which Chappell Roan has spoken out against the intrusive behavior of paparazzi. Already in 2024, she defended herself against a photographer who shouted at her on the red carpet at the VMAs to keep her mouth shut. Even back then, Noah Kahan supported the singer via X.

Many fans are also proud that the singer stands up for herself so strongly and doesn’t accept disrespect. “I think it’s great when women stand up against men who have wronged them in a society where women are taught to accept abuse quietly and with a smile,” one person commented. “She motivates me to stop being such a coward. Thank you, Chappell Roan.”
