With cowboy hat and alongside brother Simon and father Gerhard, the long-time Bayern professional is pondering his future. The path probably leads to the USA. But one question remains open.
A farewell with an announcement-and now a clear finger towards the USA: Thomas Müller indicated in a YouTube video where his career could continue. “Then it goes over the big pond,” said the 35-year-old at the end of the recording. According to the “Bild”, this means a move to the United States.
The 2014 world champion had previously stated that after his departure from FC Bayern Munich, he would not continue to play in Europe. He described the North American major League Soccer (MLS) as “interesting league”.
According to information from the “Bild”, Müller should sign a contract for the current and coming season in the USA. Interest in the offensive player there is, among others, from Los Angeles FC and another club from the MLS.
The YouTube video shows Müller with his father Gerhard and his brother Simon, who sit on three folding chairs on the Isar-apparently a tribute to the episode “The long way to Sacramento” of the former cult series “Münchner Stories” by Helmut Dietl.
“It was 25 years of Fcb. Schee every day. Even if it is over now,” says Müller in the clip, among other things. “Today is Saturday, tomorrow Sunday and the day after tomorrow is’ Monday – and then everything is over at once. Then it goes over the big pond,” he says, before he rides away on a horse.
After a quarter of a century-with 13 championship titles, six wins in the DFB Cup and two triumphs in the Champions League-an era ends at Bayern. So far, Müller had only been a professional for Munich-even at the club World Cup in the USA this summer. The offensive ace had not received a new contract with his heart club.
