A few days after the end of the 2024/25 World Cup season, the Swiss Biathlon Association can look forward to a new addition. The Langel Coralie, which was previously launched for France, has joined the Swiss Federals with immediate effect.

The 23-year-old Langel announced her herself on Instagram itself last week. Under the heading “Second chapter” she wrote for a short video: “This weekend I will discover the Swiss championships and see what awaits me. Thank you for everything, France. And thank you Switzerland for welcoming me.”

In her first race as a Swiss biathlete, Langel was enough for Langel in the national title fights after a mixed performance at the shooting range for twelfth place. In the sprint race over six kilometers, she made six shooting errors and finished almost four minutes after the new Swiss sprint champion and future biathlon pensioner Elisa Gasparin.

Biathlon association sorts talent

Langel had given great hopes a few years ago to be able to climb into the French A squad promptly. Due to a serious illness, however, she missed the entire 2022/23 season. In the 2023/24 season, it was no longer taken into account by those responsible and excluded from the extended professional contingent.

Langel then announced that it was encapsulated by the National Association and train on his own. In the past few months, she did this in which she took part in various races in the so-called France Cup. She also celebrated some victories, especially in the late phase of the season.

The proverbial grapes in the French biathlon team hung too high for Langel. In addition to a consistently high-class A team, the Grande Nation now also has an excellent B team. The 23-year-old obviously did not see a realistic chance of a place in the team.
