The incident took place around 5 p.m. (local time) in Traverse City, a tourist city on Michiganmeer.
The Munson Medical Center, a hospital in Traverse City, announced via social media that eleven victims are being treated. Six of them are in critical condition and five are in the need.
The local Sheriff announced on Saturday evening that the 42-year-old suspect is from Michigan and that the attack was probably random. The man used a folding knife and was overpowered by bystanders in the store. Nothing is known about his motive.
Former minister and presidential candidate and resident of Traverse City Buttigieg called the violence on social media “meaningless.”
