Cercle braces itself against Club for Bruges city derby

After the defeat against Benfica last Wednesday, Club wants to show off in front of its own audience, although they will face stiff competition from Cercle led by Miron Muslic.

Much changed

Club Brugge is currently fourth in the ranking of the Jupiler Pro League and is therefore still fighting for its place in the play-offs. Cercle is listed as eighth with a difference of seven points and can play relaxed football. Since the takeover of Muslic, the danger of relegation has passed for Cercle.

In the first derby this season, however, Cercle lost 4-0 under Dominik Thalhammer. “In the meantime, a lot has changed. We have adapted our style of play. Our mood and form are completely different now. We are ready for Club”, said a self-assured Muslic.

Nothing is necessary anymore

Cercle recently achieved a nine out of fifteen. So nothing more is necessary for Cercle this season, because the rescue is now almost certain. The difference with number sixteen, Zulte Waregem, is fourteen points.

Music emphasizes that they are still ambitious. “We have to play as well as possible as a team and we need the best individual performances. This is the derby against Club and we are simply obliged to give everything, because that’s what the fans expect. They can count on that 100 percent.”

About 13,000 spectators will descend on Sunday at the Jan Breydel stadium to see who can call themselves the team of the city again.
