Cercle beat Standard 0-1

Standard and Cercle Brugge clearly suffered from the heat in Liège. Both teams presented the spectators with a very mediocre game. Price and Dragus had their chance with the home team, but Cercle goalkeeper Warleson kept his nets clean. On the other side, Bodart had to go flat on attempts from Somers and Lopes Da Silva. The second period brought little improvement. Dragus and Kanga were active, but the Rouches clearly lack quality.

Cercle was also not allowed to claim victory. Green-black took the lead at the end of the game. Substitutes De Wilde and Minda put together an attack thirteen minutes before the end and the Ecuadorian kicked the ball neatly past Bodart, 0-1. The team from Liege had no answer and Cercle seemed to score a second time in added time, but Denkey’s goal was rejected by the VAR. The Togolese started from an offside position. Cercle is in the sub-top of the ranking with six out of twelve. Standard is one point behind in penultimate place.
