Celtic Glasgow strengthen right-back with World Cup participant Alistair Johnston. The 24-year-old, who completed all three group games for Canada over 90 minutes, arrives from MLS club CF Montréal and has signed a five-year contract with the Scottish leaders. Johnston, who only moved to Canada from Nashville SC for the 2022 season, played a total of 39 games for Montreal, in which he was directly involved in eight goals.
“I’m very pleased. We identified him very early on as someone who we believe can enrich our club,” said coach Ange Postecoglou. “He has an interesting career path that has required him to work very hard to get to where he is now. We are very happy that we were able to sign the contract (…). He is very keen to take the next step in his career and I think he will fit into our dressing room very well and add value to our football.”
