Blood-curdling Zaanse korfbal derby between KZ and Groen Geel ends in points division

After a year of absence, the Zaan korfbal derby was again on the program tonight. The match between KZ (Koog aan de Zaan) and Groen Geel (Wormer) was not played last year, because the Korfball League was split into two groups. This season, every club will play against each other, the first confrontation was 27-27.

KZ got off to a great start and quickly took a 6-1 lead against Groen Geel. In that phase, the visitors from Wormer were not involved for a moment. With the korfball team from Koog aan de Zaan, Esther Cordus excelled with five points before the break. During the first half, Groen Geel came into the game better. The margin of five points was maintained for a long time, until Thomas Schagen brought back the tension with a number of striking hits. As a result, the halftime score was 17-15.

In the second half it became a lot more even. Green Yellow even came alongside and brutally took the lead: 22-23. However, the Kogers then seemed to run out, because they had a margin of three points. However, Green Yellow did not give in and came to the same level via Terrenc Grielink. Both teams had another shot chance to win, but it remained at 27-27.
