CD&V opposes the plea of Minister of the Interior Bart Somers (Open Vld) to force municipalities to merge after 2024. “Flanders should not impose a marriage partner on our municipalities. If a municipality is running well, has no debt problem and residents are satisfied, who is the Flemish government to get involved?”, responds CD&V chairman Sammy Mahdi.
