CDA Member of Parliament Agnes Mulder leaves national politics

CDA Member of Parliament Agnes Mulder from Assen will be the new director of employers’ association VNO-NCW MKB Noord. She succeeds the recently departed Ton Schroor.

Mulder (49) will start her new job on June 1. With that, she will not complete her current term as a member of the House of Representatives for the CDA. Mulder has been in the Chamber since 2012, where she is the spokesperson for the CDA in the gas dossier and also has the economics portfolio.

From there she focuses on small and medium-sized businesses, energy, sustainability and innovation.

Agnes Mulder is happy with her news function. “VNO-NCW MKB Noord feels like coming home to me. After ten years as a member of parliament in The Hague, I am returning to my region. I look forward to working with the members in the field of energy, accessibility and employment for a thriving Northern Netherlands,” says Mulder.

Chairman Sieger Dijkstra of the employers’ organization has words of praise for the new director. “In Agnes Mulder, I think we have found a great new director for our association. With her education, experiences at the bank and the Chamber of Commerce and knowledge of the North and The Hague, we have found a person who offers a unique combination that suits us very well. As a board, we are confident that she is able to make a wonderful contribution to a good business climate in the North and an improvement of the broad prosperity in Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe!”

After studying English and International Relations at the University of Groningen, Agnes Mulder started her career in banking at ABN AMRO in 1998. Until 2012 she was branch manager at the Drenthe office of the Chamber of Commerce.

She started her political career in 2003 as a Member of Parliament for the CDA in Drenthe. She was also leader of the CDA in the Assen city council. Then she entered the House of Representatives. In the last elections in 2021, she was eighth on the CDA electoral list.
