Overall victory is completely open

This makes the struggle for overall victory completely open. Ayuso and Roglic, in front of the 172 -kilometer section from Paüls to Amposta at the same time, only separate two stages before the end. The Dutchman Tibor del Grosso (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and the Czech Pavel Bittner (Picnic Postnl) finished second and third behind Brennan. The German Nico Denz from the Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe team became eighth.

The 104th Volta Ciclista a Catalunya leads over seven stages and 1188 kilometers to Barcelona until Sunday. The sixth section on Saturday leads the peloton over 159 kilometers from Berga to Quernalt and is particularly interesting for mountain specialists with two mountain ratings of the first category and an increase in Hors Catégorie to the Coll de Pradell.
