Carrefour: Soon daily fuel at cost price in France

PARIS (dpa-AFX) – The French supermarket chains Carrefour and E.Leclerc want to sell fuel cheaper soon. From Friday onwards, fuel will be offered at the filling stations of their wholesale markets every day at cost price, i.e. without profit. The companies announced this on Tuesday on the online platform X, formerly Twitter. Some supermarket chains have already offered fuel on certain days, such as weekends, without a profit margin.

Given the high cost of living, the French government had previously put pressure on providers. President Emmanuel Macron said at the weekend that they wanted to ask them to sell fuel at cost price./rbo/DP/nas
