In an interview with Marca, the Spanish champion talks about the challenge with the Italian: “Each of us works to find ourselves improved in the next match”
The challenge with Sinner, the Davis Cup and Nadal’s legacy. There are many themes addressed by Carlos Alcaraz in the interview conducted by Marca with the Spanish champion after the ATP finals lost in the final against the blue. And the interview starts from the endless Sinner-Alcaraz challenge which has now become the catchphrase of tennis. “I think we are both obsessed with each other – admits Carlos -. He has lost two or three matches in the last two years and the vast majority have been with me. Jannik has to see and think about what he needs to improve to beat the player he has failed to beat several times. It is logical and normal. I have lost to more players, but my thought is to improve and do things so that the next time we face each other I am a much better player.”

Giving up the Davis Cup is a painful chapter given that the Spaniard hasn’t achieved much satisfaction in this event. The Spaniard is patient: “I don’t know if the Davis Cup owes me anything – he says -, but I’m sure that, sooner or later, the time will come. I’d prefer sooner than later, but one day it will come.” Then he talks about his career and the comparison with the greats of tennis. Despite the 6 slam titles at just 22 years old, Alcaraz believes that it is still too early to compete with champions like Nadal, his idol, Federer and Djokovic: “I’m not even close yet. Playing until I’m 38 like Djokovic? I don’t know if I’ll get to 33 or 38. I’ll take care of myself so that my career is as long as possible”
