Car thief stopped with cinematic scene

During a check, police officers were able to catch many traffic offenders

A thief stole a car in Moabit in front of the owner. However, according to witnesses, he was stopped and arrested with a scene ready for film.

As the police announced on Sunday, the 26-year-old car owner and her boyfriend, who was one year older, were loading the unlocked car on Emdener Straße on Saturday afternoon when a man sat in and started the engine. The friend of the owner is said to have stood in the way, but the thief is said to have accelerated anyway.

The 27-year-old landed on the bonnet, but then, according to his own statements, climbed into the car through an open window while driving and pressed the brake. According to the police, the car drove into a bollard, a traffic light post and over a sidewalk, so that passers-by had to jump aside.

The 34-year-old suspect ran away before witnesses caught him. According to the breath alcohol test, he was not drunk. According to police, he does not have a driver’s license. The man was initially taken to the hospital with injuries, but faces an arrest warrant. The 27-year-old friend of the car owner complained of leg pain.
